[ Terra's had some time to think over the events that he went home to witness and decided that he was going to finally try to gain some badges. However, there is still a little bit of uncertainty of going on his own, so he decides to ask... ]

So, while I've been here, I've never really though to obtain badges, since I've been training my pokemon. I think I'll be attempting sometime soon, but I wanted to ask if there are any strategies I should prepare for.

[ A pause....]

Master always commented on how it's good to think things through before attempting, and I'd like to do that here. Any advice would help.

Find out which pokemon the gym leader has, then try to use the ones you have with moves theirs are weak to.

[Astrid spends more time than she should strategizing.]

Although if you train enough, you can just power through the early ones.

If you have been training the whole time, you should not have many problems.

I beat one of the gyms with my sentret, which is apparently only possible if you really overlevel.

I do train a lot. It's something to do.

Well, I could always smother you in text and just toss you my guide, but if you'd rather not drown in a sea of words... Well, just let me know which gyms you're thinking of.

Kanto's not a bad place to start, anyway. All the cities are packed closer together.

Don't get Erika angry and be prepared to deal with Whitney sobbing her eyes out.

[Oh hey, it's you. Dave perks up a bit and adjusts the feed so Terra can see his Leafeon rolling around.]

Sounds like your master was a wise badass. Anyway. You don't always have to do the type advantage thing, working with what you've got is okay but arm them with a variety of moves. I like to slap down status effects and moves that keep boosting my pokemon. You got some good advice, studying the gym you're up against is a good point to start from.

Yeah, give your team a variety of moves. See what each one of them can learn and build the best possible set of attacks and defenses you can. Like for example, Ice takes out dragons but, an ice type can be weakier to the moves that dragons dish out.

Or maybe you just don't like ice types.

There are a lot of pokemon that could use ice attacks and still get in that blow you need to score the badge.

So you were a more earthy sort of mage? Nothing here is like the stuff I was tapping into it. Probably a good thing.

So, what gym are you looking at first?
